Almabtrieb Festival
The Almabtrieb Festival to celebrate the cows returning from the summer pastures is a spectacular event where hundreds of cows are driven through the valley, their horns gaily decorated with garlands.
Almabtrieb Festival
The Grand Wildschönau Almabtrieb Festival takes place on 20th September. 500 head of cattle are driven from the high pastures through the village of Auffach. The Festival's support programme is exciting in itself. There's a craft fare, a farmer's market, food and drink and lots of music. The party goes on long after the cows have come home!
