Choirs and a music high school
12 choirs and a high school with a heavy folk music emphasis contribute to the folk music culture in the Wildschönau Valley.
The Music High School in the Wildschönau
The Wildschönau High School was the first of nine in Tyrol that specialised in the teaching of Tyrolean folk music. By means of an extended timetable, kids can choose a musical option, either music and movement or learning an instrument. Various school and local events are enhanced by performances by the pupils of the Music High School eg. Our Alpine Advent in the Farmer's Museum.
Wildschönau Choirs
There are 4000 inhabitants of this valley and 12 choirs - a good indication of the love of music here in the Wildschönau.
Church and male voice choirs, school and youth choirs, a gospel choir and various other small groups sing a broad spectrum of music from different eras, countries and styles.
