Thierbach
Thierbach is the smallest and most idyllic of the 4 villages in the Wildschönau.
Thierbach lies at a height of 1150 m sea level and is made up of the church, the school (with 8 pupils) a few houses and farms and 2 guesthouses. It is a place almost forgotten in time and all the more fascinating for that!
A stop at the Gasthof Sollererwirt is a must when doing the circular Thierbach walk. The original 'Speckbacherstube' was the scene of historical meetings in 1809 of Andreas Hofer's Freedom Fighters against Napoleon. The rifle company 'Sturmlöda' originated from this time.
Other pleasant hostelries are the Gasthof Gradlspitz, the Klinglerhof and the Hörbighof.
The "Gratlspitz" is Thierbach's landmark mountain and is impressive not only because of it's jagged shape. The walk leads you from the Holzalm farm or the Klinglerhof to the peak with fantastic views over the Widlschönau to the Schatzberg and into the neighbouring Alpbach Valley.
The Leisure Train takes you to Thierbach every Wednesday to visit the Lehenlahn Silver Mine.
