Thierbach
Thierbach is the smallest and most idyllic of the 4 villages in the Wildschönau.
Thierbach lies at a height of 1150 m sea level and is made up of the church, the school (with 8 pupils) a few houses and farms and 2 guesthouses. It is a place almost forgotten in time and all the more fascinating for that!
A stop at the Gasthof Sollererwirt is a must. The original 'Speckbacherstube' was the scene of historical meetings in 1809 of Andreas Hofer's Freedom Fighters against Napoleon. The rifle company 'Sturmlöda' originated from this time.
Other pleasant hostelries are the Gasthof Gradlspitz, the Klinglerhof and the Hörbighof.
A romantic winter evening walk around the Thierbach Hilltop can be taken in the winter with the aid of snow shoes and a head lamp.
