Wednesday is Doughnut Day on the Achental Alm high above Oberau. Known locally as 'noodles', these deep fried pastries have nothing in common with pasta, they are more like a doughnut and are served with either a sweet or savoury filling.
From the Achental Alm our discovery tour takes us to the Zwecklhof Farm where Sigi Kistl distills excellent prizewinning schnapps and liqueuers in idyllic surroundings at 1150 m altitude.
Sigi will let you into a few trade secrets of the fine art of schnapps distillery and offer you a taste of his wares, accompanied by a snack of homecured ham and homemade bread.
