Ski Touring in the Wildschönau Tyrol
Wildschönau - You have chosen one of the most lovely places for ski touring in the Eastern Alps.
Our valley can be considered a paradise for winter sports fans ski tourers, with its fantastic views and gentle descents. The ski tourer is offered many attractive routes of differing lengths.
Schönanger Alm is a popular starting point, reachable by car or from the tops of the Markbachjoch or Schatzberg gondolas.
Safety tips:
High over the valley you can ofter see the tracks of a lone ski tourer headed for the mountain top.
Start off early enough kitted out with food, drink, sun cream, avalanche beeper and shovel. If you're going off piste , the reponsibility is yours. Always let someone know where you intend to go and always listen to weather, snow and avalanche reports.

"Dragstar 08" 30.12.08 on the Tennladen lift in Niederau
A truly amazing feat can be seen on the Tennladen in Niederau. Ski tourers make their way up to the top of the Markbachjoch on their skis naturally and then race down again conquering a total of 800 metres metres straight up completely under their own steam. This popular event takes place for the second year running in the Wildschönau and attracts hundreds of spectators from all over Europe.
