Snow situation in the Wildschönau
At the moment we have approx. 1.6 metre of snow in the village and 2.5 metres on the mountain. It is snowing lightly at the moment. We are expecting a short respite for Friday when no snow is forecast. On Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday heavy snow is forecast. From Tuesday we expect a significant improvement with some sunshine.
The avalanche danger scale is 4 of 5 at the moment which means that skiing or other activities off piste are strictly forbidden.

Despite the news reports, the Wildschönau is accessible by road from Wörgl. There is no danger of avalanche on the road. All vehicles without exception must have winter tyres. Snow chains should be carried as further snowfall is expected and side roads cannot always be cleared immediately.

There is no avalanche danger on the official ski slopes. The Wildschönau is generally avalanche safe. 42 of 45 lifts are presently in operation and 78 of 109 km of slopes are open. Our colleagues from the lift companies are working round the clock to ensure your safety on the slopes.
Warning to all winter sportsmen and women. Due to the high danger of avalanches off piste please pay attention to any warning signs. They are there for your safety.
Please DO NOT be tempted to ski the powder off piste even if the sun comes out in the next few days - it is just too dangerous!
