Andreas Thaler was Austrian Minister of Agriculture (1926 - 1931) and farmer at the Borstadl Farm, the last station on our Path of Songs. He built the Thalerhäusl here in front of us before he emigrated to distant Brasil in 1933 with 59 Wildschönau inhabitants and many other Tiroleans and founded the Dreizehnlinden Settlement there in the state of Santa Catarina. In doing so he helped his compatriots - especially many poor farm children, to start a new life far from home.
The song "Mir Lebfrischen Hirten", created by Andreas Thaler is popularly sung by nativity groups in Advent. The "Anklöpfler" (“those knocking at the door“), men and women dressed up as shepherds go from house to house and convey the message of the birth of Jesus. The custom of Anklöpfeln was added to UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2011.
