Silver Mine in Thierbach

The Wildschönau Silver Mine

Hidden in the forest on the edge of Thierbach in the Wildschönau is the ancient Lehenlahn silver mine. The museum shows excerpts from the life of miners two centuries ago.

In the olden days of mining, workers chipped their way through the rock faces using just hammers and picks. After a sleeping beauty rest of 130 years the mine was reopened to the public. Learn all about the silver and copper mining era in the Wildschönau Valley.

Deep under the ground there is much to discover:

The mine is closed in winter.

In summer the entrance to the mine is free with the Wildschönau Card
