Lorenz “Lenz” Klingler from Wildschönau, a student at the HTL for Design in Innsbruck, and Matthias Bernhard, a painter with a studio in Kitzbühel, a graduate of the same school and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts, are connected by a personal acquaintance as well as a similar shared interest: painting as an open process between abstraction and figuration. While Matthias Bernhard explores the possibilities of painting and approaches the canvas from an intuitive, state-of-mind perspective, Lenz Klingler focuses on striking motifs. His works draw on pop culture, jazz, hip-hop, and graffiti. Both artists use a variety of materials—from broad brushes to spray cans—in the service of immediate, emotional expression. Thus, two generations, two styles, and a similar understanding of painting come together.
Musical entertainment with the jazz trio “Three Blind Mice.”
