Almabtrieb - Homecoming Festival

Saturday, 21. September 2024 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The Wildschönau Almabtrieb or cattle drive is one of the few remaining authentic festivals of it's kind in Tirol.
On the morning of the Almabtrieb, the animals are milked, their horns decorated and they are driven to the home farms in the valley.

Program of 2023

• The craft and farmer's market starts at 10:00 a.m.
• The Auffach Brass Band opens the festival with a parade.
• Live music by the "Wüd-Brix-Musig" provides entertainment throughout the day.
• The young farmers, the farmer's market and local farmer's wives, clubs and societies offer fresh and delicious local specialities.
• Craftsmen demonstrate ancient skills.
• Hay bale corner and Bouncy Cow for the kids.
• Music groups will be playing at locations throughout the village.
• The first cows arrive at around 11:30 a.m.

Information for bus groups:
From 2024, a fee will be charged for bus groups. The contribution is € 100 per group on advanced booking (at least 14 days in advance). Please book on info@wildschoenau.com stating the travel group and billing address. Groups that have not booked will be charged € 120 on arrival. Tour groups staying in the Wildschönau Valley (Niederau, Oberau, Auffach, Thierbach) are exempt from this fee (please state the accommodation when booking).
