Family hiking in the Wildschönau

On the family hiking trails in the Wildschönau you can relax and explore the region on foot. On the way the breathtakingly beautiful natural scenery will make you stop and marvel: Wooden stations with fantastic views invite you to linger, and adventure stops delight both parents and kids. But where to go first? We have the overview of the most beautiful family hikes.

Family hiking through the Kundl Gorge

The Kundl Gorge connects the Wildschönau high valley with the Inn valley and is without doubt one of the most beautiful gorges in Austria. Between imposing rock faces, the Wildschönauer river rushes its way along the hiking trail and promises a soothing cooldown on hot days. Build cairns with your children, cool your feet in the crystal-clear water and take relaxing breaks along the rive bed. At the end of the tour, the guesthouses in Kundl offer delicious food and cold drinks.

Our tip: To shorten the hike a little, you can hop on the Bummelzug, the slow train in Mühltal. This takes you directly to the entrance of the gorge. And: the family hiking trail is easily negotiable with a pram.

The Kundl Gorge is closed in the winter months from 15.11.2023.
