The Wildschönau valley autumn series of events has some special highlights in store again this year. When the landscape is bathed in warm autumn colors and the days become clearer, everything that makes this season so unique comes together: living traditions, regional cuisine, and atmospheric experiences.
In addition to tried-and-tested traditions, visitors can also look forward to fresh ideas and new accents that showcase the enjoyable and varied side of autumn in Wildschönau.
Culinary delights in autumn
Autumn delights with a very special culinary diversity. The Culinary Dragon Trails focus on real culinary delights: seasonal specialties that bring the flavors of autumn to life. From fine beet dishes to hearty meat classics and creative vegan dishes, pure enjoyment awaits all those who love regional cuisine.

Harvest Festival
The "Museumskirchtag" (harvest festival) is a convivial autumn festival. On the first Sunday in October, a colorful program takes place at the Bergbauernmuseum z'Bach (Mountain Farm Museum). Visitors can enjoy crafts, Tyrolean folk music, and culinary specialties.
High Trail Trophy
The Wildschönau Valley Autumn also has plenty to offer sports enthusiasts. Anyone who likes to be active and enjoy competing should not miss the High Trail Trophy on October 2nd and 3rd, 2026. The route leads along the Wildschönauer High Trail to the Schönangeralm at the end of the valley.
Autumn time = hiking time
Autumn is a wonderful time for hiking in the mountains. The air is clearer, the view seems further away, and the colorful leaves are beautiful to look at.
The Markbachjoch cable car in Niederau takes you up to the top in comfort. It is in operation until October 18th, 2026, and is included in the Wildschönau Premium Card. Also included in the Wildschönau (Premium) Card is the hiking bus, which takes you to the popular hiking starting point Schönangeralm.
Until October 16th, 2026, guided hikes invite you to explore together, and many huts and mountain inns are also open in autumn and look forward to welcoming hiking enthusiasts.
