On her overtone-rich instrument, the hammered dulcimer, Maria Ma has developed a uniquely virtuosic playing style and moves the audience with the special sound of this ancient instrument, which is associated with Alpine folk music but originally hails from the Persian region. Together with her Vienna-based PUR Ensemble, she weaves ethereal soundscapes with earthy rhythms in her compositions, occasionally letting her musical roots shine through. Joining Maria Ma (hammered dulcimer & vocals) are percussionist Christian Einheller (currently Rainhard Fendrich’s drummer, among others), guitarist Thomas Hechenberger (band member of Josh., among others), and bassist Mischa Krausz (who has played with Andre Heller, Maria Bill, and Wolfgang Ambros, among others).
