Niederau Wildschönau

Niederau is the first village in the high Wildschönau and lies at 828 m above sea level.

The first village you reach, Niederau is immediately recognisable by it’s pointed church steeple and the Markbachjoch mountain behind it.
Skiers bustle through the popular village in winter. In the summer the mountain is a popular destination for walkers and sightseers. The nearest motorway exit in Wörgl is just 10 km away.

Ski centre in Niederau

The Markbachjoch is the ski centre in Niederau. Easy beginners slopes and demanding valley runs make Niederau into a small but popular ski resort. One highlight is the black run on the Hochberg. Take a snow shoe trek across the snowfields. Beginners slopes are within easy distance of the village centre. A thrilling toboggan run stretches 6 km from the Lanerköpfl to the village.

Summer holiday in Niederau

Another typical characteristic of Niederau are the miriads of colourful parachutes dotting the skies over the village. The place is home to Tirol’s largest paragliding school.
The Markbachjoch mountain is a popular starting point for walks in every category. The views are fantastic. Walks are to the Cheese Alm, the Norderberg Alm and the Rosskopf mountain as well as longer tours to the Feldalphorn.
