Guided walks in the Wildschönau

It's more fun together!
Hiking guides accompany guests five days a week between May and October to the most beautiful places in the Wildschönau.
The guided hiking programme includes hikes of all levels of difficulty. Changes are possible due to weather conditions.
All hikes are included in the Wildschönau Card.

Around the Rosskopf Mountain

Take the cable car up to the Markbachjoch (1500m).
Here you have a magnificent view of the steep peaks of the Wilder Kaiser and the Wildschönau with its four church villages. The fantastic mountain panorama invites you to take a break at one of the alpine pastures, which are known for their good home cooking. Descent with the cable car.

200 metres in altitude, 9.8 km
Meeting point: 9:30 am valley station (ticket office) of the Markbachjochbahn in Niederau.

Sunrise walk

We start in the dark. In silence we hike through the forest towards the dawn. Our summit, the Kragenjoch, is a place of strength where we greet the new day together. We are back in time for breakfast. Take a snack and a drink with you.

600 metres in altitude, 8.3 km
Meeting point: 05:30 a.m. (in the morning!). Parking lot of the Drachental Family Park in Oberau.

Alm to Alm - take the high road to the Schönanger Alm

This hike focuses on alpine life. We start at the Markbachjoch and hike to the Käsealm. On the way there, we learn a lot about the busy summer on the alp and cheese production. Past small moor lakes, the narrow mountain path leads us to the Vordere Feldalm. Strengthened after an alpine snack, we continue our hike and reach the rustic Breiteggalm. Once there, we will hear many interesting facts about the coexistence of humans and animals during the summer. The tour ends at the Schönangeralm.

2 Valley bike tour

Join our guided e-mountain bike tours.
Recommended equipment: Small rucksack, drinks, Wildschönau Card. Helmet compulsory (also available at the bike rental). If you have your own e-mountain bike: Min. battery power 625 watts. Bikes with studded profile for forest and gravel paths, no trekking bikes allowed.

Meeting point: 9:00 a.m.
Minimum age: 12 years (min. height 150 cm) accompanied by a parent or 16 years unaccompanied.
Cost of e-mountain bike hire incl. helmet: € 49.00 per person.

Filzmoos Moor

The easy hike is also well suited for families. The high moor lies at 1000 m. Those who want can take off their hiking boots and walk barefoot through the moor. The "Filzmoos" on the Niederau Bruggberg is an extensive area of raised bog and offers us insights into the fascinating flora and fauna of this biotope. Very close to the high moor there is also a deer park where we can watch deer. We enjoy our stop and the view of the Brixental mountains from the terrace of the Foisching snack station.

Visit to the Herb Garden - Healing herbs

On the Hintersalcherhof Farm we discover nature's healing herbs. Birgit Haas, our herbal expert leads you through her beautiful garden.

Duration: approx. 3,5 hours

Cost: € 4,00 per person (incl. tea and home made bread)
Meeting point: 09:45 a.m. at the Schatzberg cable car in Auffach.

Visit idyllic Thierbach

This walk takes us from Mühltal over green meadows and forest paths to the remote village of Thierbach. After a circular walk we come to the majestic Hörbighof, where we enjoy a stop and possibly the loveliest view of the valley. We return on the same route.

Easy walk around the Niederau Sonnberg

From the tourist office we walk towards the Niederau Sonnberg. This easy walk rounds off the walking week perfectly.

Sunrise Walk

Sunrise walk — A different start to the day on the Kragenjoch Mountain in Oberau.
e start in the dark and walk through the silent forest towards the sunrise. Our summit, the Kragenjoch Mountain, is a place of power where we greet
the new day together. We‘ll be back in time for breakfast.

Take a small snack & drink with you.
Please note: The start time changes throughout the season, depending on the time of the sunrise.

 

 

Gratlspitz Tour

We meet at the most beautiful end of the Wildschönau. From the Klinglerhof in Thierbach we start our tour under the three peaks of the Gratlspitz Mountain in Thierbach.
We take a rest stop at the lovely Holzalm Hut with its magnificent views.

Wildschönau High Trail

We take the gondola up to the Markbachjoch and start with a fantastic view. Passing one of the largest dairy farms in Tirol, we take the Wildschönauer High Trail to the Feldalphorn, one of the most beautiful peaks in the Wildschönau. Hiking guide Gerlinde gives you a fascinating insight into alpine life. We pass several mountain pastures on the way to the Schönanger Alm, where we end the day together with a well deserved drink. We take the bus back to Auffach.

Filzmoos High Moor

This hike is suitable for all the family. If you like, you can take off your boots and walk barefoot through the moor in the summer months.
Filzmoos moor is a protected and extensive swamp area and offers wonderful insights into local flora and fauna. Nearby is the Foisching game park
where a herd of tame deer are at home.

Herbal Walk

The power of nature

Herbal walk to the Hintersalcherhof Farm in Auffach. On the way to the Hintersalcherhof herb farm
we forage for herbs in the woods to have them made into a healthy spread by herb farmer Birgit. Afterwards we visit the
herb garden.

Hikes are included for guests with the Wildschönau Card
(only valid for individual guests and groups of up to 10 people).
Other additional costs (e.g. transfer, snack, etc.) are to be paid by the guest.
For safety reasons, participation in the hiking programme with dogs is not possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Equipment
Light sportswear, good over-the-ankle shoes, sun and rain protection (sun cream, hat, glasses), sufficient drinks, fruit, muesli bars.
The hikes take place in all weathers! However, the mountain hiking guide may change the route at short notice due to weather conditions.
