The Markbachjoch Mountain lies at 1500 metres above sea level. It takes just 8 minutes in the 8 man gondola to the mountain station. Walks start directly at the top. From here the Rosskopf and Feldalphorn peaks are not too far away. For those who prefer to take things easier, a short walk to the pretty Markbachjoch chapel is just the thing.
The views are of course magnificent and you can see for miles and miles. Not only is the Wildschönau Valley laid out at your feet but the Wilder Kaiser with it’s craggy peaks and the Rofan mountain ranges seem close enough to touch.
The Markbachjoch is also the starting pad for the paragliders from the Wildschönau Flight School or Fly2 Tandem Flights.
Stage 14 of the Tirol Bike Safari crosses over the Markbachjoch and there are several other really cool Bike trails.

The goats and rabbits at the Markbachjochalm hut like a bit of company. Cheeses made at the Käse Alm taste particularly delicious up here. (30 minutes walk)
Our Dragon Club kids spend a whole day up here.
Inviting huts around the top of the Markbachjoch provide refreshment for weary walking families
