The hikes through the wintry Wildschönau with our guides offer interesting insights and all kinds of local knowledge about the region and its people. On easy to moderate tours, our experienced hiking guides accompany you through the snow-covered landscape - both on cleared paths and cross-country. In addition to the guided winter hikes, we also offer varied snowshoe hikes through the Wildschönau. If you prefer to explore the natural landscape under the clear winter sky, you can also take part in a night hike with a headlamp or torch.
Make full use your Wildschönau Card ! With it you can enjoy numerous local services at no extra cost. Our guided hikes are also included in the Wildschönau Card, and snowshoe rental is free once per stay.

Guided walks
Winter hike around the Sonnberg
The hike takes us along snow-covered meadows and then into the forest. We walk along the north side of the Sonnberg, past the Eisstein, with small views towards the Inn Valley. At Füllnwies, we take a break and enjoy the clear view of the surrounding panorama. On the way back, we pass by beautiful, traditional farms and hike back to the starting point.
Evening snowshoe hike
Discover an unforgettable winter hike through the snow-covered landscape of Niederau! Hiking guide Rainer will lead you on an adventurous tour lasting around two hours. Equipped with headlamps, you will make your way through the quiet, peaceful winter wonderland at night in good snow conditions.
Panorama snowshoe hike
A little time out - we explore the wintry silence and untouched snowy landscapes. Gerlinde leads you on this sporty tour to the well-known Holzalm, which is sleepy in winter, and a special place shrouded in legend.
Winter hike on the Holzweg trail
A little break—we’ll dive into the winter peace of the forest and discover its unique features with all our senses. Forest educator Gerlinde will guide you on this easy, relaxing walk along the "Holzweg trail". Starting at 2 p.m., the Wood Museum invites you to explore even more.
Mystical torchlight hike
A memory that lasts—we dive into the winter night and let the warm glow of the torches guide us. On this atmospheric walk, we enjoy the silence of the mountains and experience the special magic of winter in the flickering light.
Winter hike snow crystals
In the middle of nowhere—we’ll discover the winter silence in the farthest corner of the high valley, surrounded by its highest mountains. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, we’ll track animals and look closely at sparkling snow crystals. The route will be chosen based on snow conditions.
Winter hike with horse carriage ride
A special winter experience—we’ll hike to the Foisching snack station with its inviting sun terrace and magnificent views. From there, Simon and Fritz will take us further uphill by carriage to “Ossis Little Canada.” We’ll visit the herd of red deer, then enjoy homemade hot drinks and some peaceful atmosphere in the warm cabin.

No snowshoe hike without suitable walking boots, these are an absolute must. If available, bring shoe spikes.

Guided snow shoe tours on the Schönanger Alm
Mountain guide Rainer Schoner offers guided snow shoe tours every Saturday. A special treat is a tour on the Schönanger Alm in Auffach.
