High Trail Trophy
The High Trail Trophy Wildschönau is a hiking and trail running event that leads along the Wildschönauer Höhenweg trail from Niederau to the Schönangeralm in Auffach. Challenging routes and breathtaking views make this event a special experience – but in the end, it's the fastest time that counts. In 2026, the High Trail Trophy will be extended to two days for the first time. The race weekend will start on Friday, October 2nd, with an exciting uphill mountain sprint, which is short, intense, and steep. The classic Höhenweg Trophy will follow on Saturday, October 3rd. In addition to the popular hiking trail, trail runners can look forward to a new extension along the Höhenweg. Challenging passages, varied terrain, and a unique alpine backdrop make for a real sporting challenge. This hiking and trail running event follows the Wildschönau High Trail from Niederau to the Schönangeralm in Auffach. The routes are physically demanding, pass traditional alpine huts, and offer breathtaking panoramic views – in the end, it’s all about the fastest time!
In 2026, the High Trail Trophy will be extended to two days for the first time:
Friday, October 2nd
The race weekend kicks off with an uphill mountain sprint. Over an intense distance of 3 kilometers, participants face a steep ascent – short, sharp, and challenging.
Saturday, October 3rd
The classic High Trail Trophy enters its next round. Trail runners can look forward to a new route extension: up to 30 kilometers along the high trail – physically demanding, varied, and set in a truly unique alpine landscape.
Route Overview 2026: More Distance - More Challenge
Uphill Sprint (Friday)
The uphill sprint starts at the valley station of the Markbachjoch cable car in Niederau and leads up to the Rübezahl Hut, located directly at the mountain station.
Distance: 3 kilometres
Hiking Route – Individual & 3-Person Teams (Saturday)
The hiking route leads from the Markbachjoch via Rosskopf, Feldalphorn, Schwaigberghorn, and Breiteggern to the Schönangeralm.
Distance: 15 kilometres
Power Trail (Saturday)
The Power Trail starts at the mountain station of the Markbachjoch cable car and runs via Rosskopf, Feldalphorn, Schwaigberghorn, Breiteggern, Breiteggspitze, and Siedljoch to the Schönangeralm.
Distance: 20 kilometres
Summit Trail (Saturday)
The Summit Trail is the most challenging route. It also starts at the mountain station of the Markbachjoch cable car and leads via Rosskopf, Feldalphorn, Schwaigberghorn, Breiteggern, Breiteggspitze, Siedljoch, Sonnjoch, Großer Beil, and Kleiner Beil to the Schönangeralm.
