Holiday in the centre of the WILDSCHÖNAU

Oberau Wildschönau

In the centre of the Wildschönau at 936 m altitude lies the picturesque village of Oberau.

The landmark of Oberau is the 250 year old baroque church, sometimes known as the Cathedral because of it’s size. The views are of the Schatzberg and the Gratlspitz mountains to the south and the Wilder Kaiser mountains to the north.

Summer time in Oberau

The Z’Bach Farming Museum is exactly half way between Niederau and Oberau housed in a 200 year old farmhouse . The easy and fascinating 3.5 km long St Francis Path leads right past the door.
Tennis courts and the open air pool are part of Oberau’s infrastructure. Popular walks include the Kragenjoch, the Sonnberg Kogl and the Rosskopf mountains. Easy strolls include sunny Roggenboden to Auffach.

Winter time in Oberau

The Schiesshüttl lifts in Oberau are ideal for beginners and children. The location directly in the village centre couldn’t be better for parents watching their offspring’s first turns on skis. Two further practice lifts are at Roggenboden.
Oberau is the middle village in the valley and just a few minutes drive away from the Schatzberg and Markbachjoch ski areas.
St. Francis Path is a romantic path to Niederau and is lit up in the winter evenings.
