In the centre of the Wildschönau at 936 m altitude lies the picturesque village of Oberau.
The landmark of Oberau is the 250 year old baroque church, sometimes known as the Cathedral because of it’s size. The views are of the Schatzberg ski slopes in winter and the walking paths in summer.
The Schiesshüttl lifts in Oberau are ideal for beginners and children. The location directly in the village centre couldn’t be better for parents watching their offspring’s first turns on skis. Two further practice lifts are at Roggenboden.
Oberau is the middle village in the valley and just a few minutes drive away from the Schatzberg and Markbachjoch ski areas.
St. Francis Path is a romantic path to Niederau and is lit up in the winter evenings.
The Z’Bach Farming Museum is exactly half way between Niederau and Oberau in a 200 year old farmhouse . The easy and fascinating 3.5 km long St Francis Path leads right to the door.
Tennis courts and the open air pool are part of Oberau’s infrastructure. Popular walks include the Kragenjoch, the Sonnberg Kogl and the Rosskopf mountains. Easy strolls include sunny Roggenboden to Auffach.
The little hamlet of Mühltal belongs to bigger Oberau. From here the Kundl Gorge stretches towards the Inn Valley. It is one of the loveliest natural ravines in Austria and is open all summer.
The road to Thierbach leads also through Mühltal
Hauserweg, Oberau 337
